Emmett at 4 years old:
• Morning routine--wake up, get dressed, watch shows with a dry cereal snack, eat breakfast.
• He's been rather interested in his clothing lately. He often discusses with me what he should where the next day. He likes to pick out his own clothes. He doesn't like to wear long-sleeves or pants to church. He sometimes wants to wear the same tank top and basketball shorts for days at a time.
• He doesn't like the colors of his plate and utensils and cup to match.
• He spends time drawing every. single. day. His drawings continue to impress me. Lately he draws a lot of sea creatures, dinosaurs and rocket ships.
• The last few months we've started reading from chapter books at night. A little from the Book of Mormon and one chapter from another book. So far we have read 3 Frog and Toad books, My Father's Dragon, Toys Go Out and are currently reading Winnie the Pooh. It's such a fun time to spend together.
• He DOES NOT like tears on his face. It causes a little trauma overtime he cries (which is basically every day since he turned four). Tears are usually wiped by lifting up the shirt he is wearing all the way up to cover his whole face. Towels or wash cloths may also be used but hands are not adequate for tear wiping.
• He also doesn't like to eat foods that require his hands to get wet or dirty. He is diligent about having a napkin during meals and wiping his hands and mouth after meals.
• He often carries around a little toy figure or stuffed animal through out the day. This special toy gets to go nearly everywhere with him, including to bed. Sometimes the same toy gets this special treatment for a few days at a time.
• He's recently developed an interest in video games. He likes to play the wii with Khalil at Grandma Schmutz's house. He can hold his own at Just Dance, but he has a lot of room for improvement at Mariocart and Sonic. :)
• Emmett loves jumping on trampolines, riding his bike down (small) hills, playing on playgrounds. He has a great imagination and while he loves playing with friends, he can happily play by himself for extended periods of time.
• He complains every Sunday about going to church, but he's always well-behaved in primary and comes home happy as can be.
• He asks "How long it's going to be?" or "When are we going to be there?" ALL the time.
• Some of the shows he watches are Daniel Tiger, Bo on the Go, Diego, various disney movies
• He doesn't want to turn 5 or go to kindergarten because he doesn't want to get shots. He doesn't want to get baptized because he doesn't want to put his head under water.
• He writes all his letters (staring to throw in some lower case now and then) and can identify first sounds/letters of words.
• He is a good (sometimes too wild) big brother to a sister that is increasingly into his stuff.
• He's affectionate, kind, emotional, animated, funny and still has the best laugh ever.
Thanks for making our life so happy!
