Baby James--1 month

Weight: 10 pounds, 4 ounces (50th percentile)

Height: 21.46 inches (44th percentile)

Head circumference: 38 cm (72nd percentile)

Sweet baby James. Only one month old and growing so fast! I already feel like newborn days are nearly behind us. These babes are tiny for mere seconds! We are all savoring these days, taking advantage of any opportunity to hold or snuggle James and let a him nap on our chest. We're admiring the baby yawns, sneezes, occasional coos and hints of smiles. We've watched his eye lashes grow in and his neck get stronger; we've noticed his cheeks and thighs and belly growing more and more round. His most luscious rolls are the ones on the back of his neck. He finally let out real baby cries at 3 weeks old; before that we just heard the occasional squawk. He tolerates being held and loved on by all four older siblings. They've all (minus Graham) bemoaned and questioned this being the last baby.

James is doing alright at night. He is annoyed by how we force him to stay awake between the hours of 8-10 pm, but it generally pays off in me only needing to feed him once during the night. He's great with his pacifier and doesn't spit up too much (yet). Emmett and Caroline do some good impressions of his most common facial expression (his pursed lips and furrowed brow to name a couple). I love the way he licks/smacks his lips and pedals his feet when he's eager to eat. He's calm and content during bath time and is really a sweet and pleasant babe to have around.
