Baby James at four months is every bit as delightful as he's always been. He's good-natured, calm and content. He falls asleep easily with a swaddle and a binky and sleeps predictably for the most part. He's clasping his little hands, which is just so adorable; paying attention to all the people in this busy house. He hangs out in his swing, on his play mat, in his chair and most recently, in the bumbo. He's not yet rolling, prefers sucking on his fingers more than a pacifier, and if you look reeeeally closely you can spy some hair starting to grow on the top of his head. :) He's holding himself up well and likes to look at the mobiles in his swing and crib. James takes his naps in an assortment of locations: the crib, mom & dad's bed, the swing, the carseat. At night he still sleeps in the cradle. We get lots of comments about his bright eyes and what a beautiful baby he is. Others can also sense that he's got a good soul. Here are some comments from some friends on one of his blessing pictures:
"The embodiment of sweetness. He's an adorable baby, but yes, there's something else in his eyes that suggests a gentle soul."
"There's wisdom and joy in that tiny baby's eyes."
On Easter Sunday we blessed James Reed Moulton Schmutz in our home with just Bishop Rogerson and Grandma Gayle and our family present. We had a few family members join in via zoom (Vaughn + Margaret, Kent, Celia, Grandma + Grandpa Monson, Beth + Brennen and Grandma + Pop Pop). It was such a wonderful morning to celebrate our caboose baby and our Savior. Clark gave him a sweet blessing that focused a lot on the first two commandments--to love God and to love one's fellow men. He wore a little outfit that my mom made that both Emmett and Graham wore on their blessing days. We feel so blessed to have this beautiful baby boy in our family.
