Norah's birthday celebration:
Celebrating Norah is something the whole family was excited about. She loves birthdays (and cake!) and sings a great rendition of the Happy Birthday song. Plus, I was anxious to make up for last year when she touched her candle flame... Our plans for spoiling Norah during the day were somewhat stifled due to her getting over Hand Foot Mouth; so instead of playing at the museum, she got playtime at home and a Chick-fil-a lunch. She didn't seem to mind. :)
We had her birthday party in the afternoon. We adjusted the order of events to suit that of a two-year-old. We started with pics and birthday singing, then moved on to presents, dinner and cake. Norah had such a cute little grin while we were singing happy birthday to her, and she did a great job at blowing out her candles. She was a big fan of kitty cake and of all her presents--kitty purse, sunglasses, princess tent, button match, animal puzzle, cute clothes. And she really loved the balloons that Emmett and Caroline picked out for her at the dollar store. All-in-all, I'd say the birthday girl had a happy day. We sure love her and her spunky, sweet spirit.
A snap shot of Norah at 2 years old:
• You'll frequently find her pretending to be a puppy or sometimes a kitty. Occasionally, you'll find her playing the air guitar--sounds included.
• Proudly says "Ta-da!" after almost anything.
• Loves donuts, ice cream and chocolate.
• Is great at entertaining herself and loves pretend play. Her big sister loves this and they often play house or school together.
• Favorite shows are Little Einsteins and Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood.
• She is a little parrot, repeating anything you say to her. She's starting to put together little sentences and is communicating more each day. Some things she says that make me chuckle and/or roll my eyes: "Not nice!" "Not want it!" "Baby...brudder...cute!" "Hold it?"(the baby) "Stop it!" "What doing?"
• She's always super excited to greet mom or dad when they get home. She runs up with a big hug shouting "Mama, Mama!" or "Daddy!!"
• She's frequently asking where everyone is. "Where's Cow-wha (Caroline)?" "Where's Daddy?"
• She sleeps with a slew of books, animals and blankets in her crib.
• Throws a killer tantrum (her falling to the floor is impressive!) and can be LOUD when she wants to be.
• She's a passionate little singer--sings everything from kids/nursery rhyme songs to primary songs to TV show themes to pop songs.
• Refuses to sit in her high chair--she's at the bar or the table with the big kids now.
• Holds her own on the trampoline--even when the big kids are on it. Loves anytime spent outdoors and on playgrounds.
• Plays "This little piggy" with Graham (or anyone else whose toes are exposed).
• Can put on her own shoes--particularly her rain boots and crocs.
• Loves to draw and color--especially with markers.
• Was our first child to make an ER visit--stitches for her upper lip after a crash with the church pew.
• Is adjusting great to being a big sister. Fetches diapers and throws them away. Eager to help with the pacifier.
• Loves to build railroads and make towers out of duplos.
• Says "I love you."
"I'm two!"
