Celebrating 30 years of marriage
Celebrating 2 years of marriage (Clark's comments in Orange text)My parents celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary in North Carolina a couple of weeks ago. Clark and I forgot about our 2nd anniversary (I didn't forget. I bought Amy a card and then forgot to give it to her.) but then celebrated later that weekend when we met up with my parents in Asheville. Clark and I had a great time showing off our city and state to my parents. We couldn't have asked for better fall weather and the whole weekend went by much too fast. Here are some of the highlights:
Places:
• Duke Garden's & Chapel (twice)
• The Tobacco District, baseball stadium & Brightleaf Square
• The Biltmore--including the behind the scenes tour and most anticipated butler's pantry.
• Broughton High School
Food (there's nothing wrong with the fact that this list is the longest!):
• Shakes from the Ox and the Rabbit
• Southern BBQ at Bullocks--hushpuppies, pulled pork and slaw, anyone?
• Locopops--a local favorite
• Front St. Café--tasty & quaint
• Salsas--we have to remember to share a meal next time...
• Sunny Point breakfast--always worth the wait
• Tupelo Honey Café--THC forever!
• French Broad Chocolate Lounge--need I say more?
Memorable moments:
• My dad's face after tasting my cold drinking chocolate--let's just say he's not a fan of lavender.
• Our restaurant buzzer going off while we were blocks away sipping hot (or cold) chocolate. Clark had to sprint to get there in time to claim our table.
• My dad tailing a car he thought was mine and Clark's nearly all the way from Asheville. The undoubtedly spooked drivers of the other car eventually managed to ditch my parents who ended up getting a little lost in Chapel Hill.
Successes:
• Hanging the wall mirror that has been leaning against our hall wall for the last two years.
• A lovely primary program
• Superb autumn weather. I'm missing it desperately.
Pictures:
Clark experimenting while we waited for our breakfast at Sunny Point. I wasn't experimenting. I think this picture is awesome and shows everybody what I see when Amy is silently enjoying life's little treats while reading a menu on the wall. If Amy were ever to record a music album, then this picture would be her album cover. And for the record, I am done with posing. All pictures should catch people in normal acts and postures.
The Biltmore
See? This is us not posing and it is the best picture we took that week probably.

My thick and creamy cold drinking chocolate with coconut milk and lavender. It even had little pieces of ice in it! Very different but very tasty.

Chocolate lounge? I have so got to go there! You guys find the neatest places. Maybe it's because you're unencumbered by children... ;)
FUN! Makes me want to come back to NC!
Crazy! It doesn't seem like two years have passed. Congrats. And I will definitely have to try your fancy-pants cold chocolate with lavendar and coconut milk. Sounds weird, but in a delicious way.
word verification: mists (can they actually use a real word? I thought that was against the rules)
Ahh, I'm longing for the south...Hayley is supposed to move to NC in January so I'll have several reasons to get out there! LOVE the pic w/you and Clark on the porch swing. We need to catch up soon!
looks like a fun time! what a treat to show you parents your favorites there in N.C. I would love to have my parents all to myself when they visit :)
2 years. SIGH. Seems like yesterday I was telling my family about this new guy I was dating, named Yahya, while I was sitting at your wedding luncheon.
I'll post pix when Yahya and I hit two years. And when we hit 30 years, too.
Sounds like you guys had a great time! I have to admit that I wish we could have been there! And I might have to side with Dad and say that lavender doesn't belong in chocolate. =)
