A trio made in heaven & a dreadful day at the airport

While we were having a blast in San Marcos and Austin, our dear friends in Round Rock were saintly enough to add Emmett to their crew for the weekend.  He was pretty much in paradise the whole time.  In fact, he didn't shed a single tear until we showed back up a few days later.  And can you blame him?  He had some really cool toys and some really darling friends to keep him endlessly entertained.

(This made me deeply desire to live in a house with a backyard for Emmett to play in.)
 A cute girl to hug
 A buddy to wrestle with
 Rub a dub dub!
We did our best to recreate this cute shot from just a year earlier (Feb 2012); however, this time around the babes were a bit more mobile...and less smiley.  But still cute.  :)
I love this sequence of shots that shows Emmett rebelling from his seated position and feeling so dang proud about it!
We love these friends and their adorable twins so, so much.  Thank you, Dave & Jess, for taking such good care of our little guy.
Unfortunately, our fabulous Texas trip ended with lots of airport drama.  The short version of the story includes us getting to the airport at 5:30 a.m., waiting in a long security line, showing up at our gate at 6:20 a.m. (flight leaves at 6:30) to find the door shut and area abandoned, trying unsuccessfully to fly standby on another flight, crying to an airline attendant, waiting in lots of lines, telling our jobs we will not be home in time to work, getting Dave to pick us up and take us to San Marcos, hanging out with Hil for the afternoon, having Hil take us to the San Antonio airport, finagling a little to not get charged for our new flight and finally getting home very late at night.  It was a loooong day after a weekend of not a whole lot of sleep.  But at least we got to spend some time with Hil and Ruby, which was a bright spot in the dreadfulness of it all.

Oh my heavens... I laughed out loud at the picture of Emmett screaming on the bed and the twins looking at him like 'uh... what is your problem?'

And, that airport day sounds miserable. Miserable travel days accompanied by kiddos are exponentially more miserable. Glad you had friends nearby!
