Somewhere between 18 months and 2 years...

When you say that someone is under two years old, it feels like that person should be little.  However, when I look at Emmett, who should be little still, he seems so big and so much a little boy already.  While he may be growing faster than I'd like, he sure is oodles of fun.

Things he loves:
• Pointing out planes, birds, squirrels and big buses and trucks.
• Discovering and watching new bugs during our morning walks.  So far we've "studied" inchworms, caterpillars, nasty centipede things, worms and ants.
• Shows.  Blue's Clues, Color Crew, other random color/art/music shows, Elmo, Yo Gabba Gabba.
• Swinging "big high."  Big high = as high as the baby swing can possibly go.
• Dancing.  Singing. Reading.
• The Museum of Life & Science (especially the owl), PetSmart, playing basketball at the church, playing at the park, seeing the turtle at the library.
• Loves his friends and cousins--especially Gant, Lizey and Popo and Baby Sucy
• He likes rocks and bowls and putting his rocks in bowls.
• Pancakes, smoothies, ice cream outings with dad.
• Nursery.
• Drawing and ruining crayons.
• Imagine Dragons, Taylor Swift, Muse and any song with a great beat.
• The beach!
• Apple products.
• Playing chase and wrestling and running.

Things he hates:
• Riding in the shopping cart.
• Wearing a bib.
• Being carried around.

Things he does:
 • Emmett says so many words--often in pairs and sometimes in sentences.  I realize that the general public may not be able to understand 50% of this language, but he really can communicate many of his wants and desires.
• “All done” has replaced his “woo-ooo-ooo” signal.  He often specifies the food “all done orangey”
•  His most frequent words are "hold you," "show?" "souside" (outside), "mar" (more), "den?" (again)
•  He doesn't pronounce his hard /c/ sound which results is adorable words like "tiss," "tookie," "tandy," and "tat."
• Some of my favorite words/phrases right now are "zeebee" (zebra), "alidoodee" (alligator), "au-ant" (elephant), "Oh no! Wha happened?" "Oh, wow!" "A clue! A clue!"  "Hi, Joe!"
• Follows along with the choreography of Thom Yorke's Ingenue music video.  It's pretty impressive.
• Requests Taylor Swifts "Trouble" everytime we get in the car and turn on the radio.
• Gives lots of impromptu hugs, kisses and loves.  It's oh so very sweet.
• Takes bites out of toys or balls made out of nerf material.
• Currently sleeps with two pillows, a pillow pet, two blankets and two bears.  Sigh.
• Says prayers at night—folds arms, closes eyes and says amen.
• Reaches items off the counter top.  (Sad day for mommy!)
• Uses the number two for anything that is two or more.
• Says "please."

Things he knows:
• 8 basic shapes
• All his capital letters
• He is starting to understand counting
• His basic colors.
• Familiar songs within a note or two of music.

Things he doesn't know:
• How to distinguish cars, trucks, and buses.
• How to sleep in.  :)
Even cute boys cry.  Some days more than others.
 Love this little expression.
 Toddler predicaments.
Smirks and slides. Caps and Crocs.
 Amazing bedhead.
Rocking his big boy car seat and shades.
Green smoothies--one of the only ways of getting veggies in this boy.
It's not very often I can convince him to take a "big bite" unless it's something he really loves to eat--which is not a very long list.
Peek-a-boo games while helping momma with the laundry.

Happy 18 months, Emmett! I can't believe you are almost TWO years old! You are the best big cousin baby Sousy could ever ask for. Looking forward to seeing you sometime! <3

I love the Alidoodee too! He just gets cuter and cuter. Which I totally didn't think was going to be possible...
