Chatham & blueberries

So the card catalog (remember using those?) pictured above was a favor for my mom and my aunt.  This favor included driving to Elizabeth City, NC to buy it, store it in our front room for 5 months, and then pack it up and drive it to Charlotte where it would get loaded on a truck and shipped to Utah in time for the Monson Family Tea Party.  As a token of thanks, my sweet mom and aunt treated us to a night in a little bed & breakfast in the quiet little town of Chatham, Virginia.  

We spent the afternoon doing a walking tour of the historic downtown area.  I enjoyed seeing some of the old churches and victorian-style homes.  We also enjoyed the tiny, air conditioned library, as it was extremely humid and hot outside.  The restaurant selection wasn't great, but the town had a fun, old feel and we enjoyed our quiet little getaway very much (even though the rain storm interrupted our signal during So You Think You Can Dance).

Clark and I spent some time talking about what we'd do to fix this place up and live in it.  It's a darling house--just needs a new paint job.
How about this for a street name?!

On the way to Chatham, we spotted a blueberry farm where we could pick our own berries for $2 a pound.  We made sure to stop the next morning on our way home.  Picking blueberries was rather exciting and invigorating until the midday sun really started blazing.  At that point we decided we probably had plenty of berries for the two of us to handle.  We ended up with 7 cups of blueberries and we are looking forward to stacks of blueberry pancakes and muffins and desserts.
