What's the politically correct term for a Hillbilly?

Every weekend since my friend Robb told us about "The Hillbilly Hideaway", Amy's been begging me to take her [Amy's notes:  It had been months].  It was providential that we got to go the same weekend that one of our best friends came out to visit, and it's a great way to be introduced to North Carolina.   The first thing we did was drive and drive and drive some more.  In order to find the Hillbillies you have to drive out in the middle of nowhere to a town, not a city mind you, called Walnut Cove.  It may have been a small town, with simple folk, and only one family, but the experience was anything but simple or small, or incestuous.  The evening consisted of a [homestyle, southern-cooking] buffet-style meal that was brought directly to our table in small tupperware dishes.  Some [Most] of the food wasn't fantastic, but the experience was.  After dinner we strolled across the parking lot to an old barn converted into a theater with bus seats for benches where we were treated to 2 hours worth of old-time country music.  Where else can you hear such hits as "Five Pounds of Possum?"or "You Ain't Woman Enough to Take My Man." I say nowhere, but the Hillbilly Hideaway! [Perhaps the most shocking moment of the night was when the main singer (pictured above--please note age) added a new verse changing the lyrics to "You Ain't Woman Enough to Please Your Man."  Also, we girls had a little innocent crush on the cute 16-year-old banjo player.  Finally, be sure to check out the new tunes we have playing!]
This is Amy and Elizabeth and me next to a genuine wooden wheel outside of the restaurant.  This is a wooden wheel similar to the ones they once used to make wooden wagons go.  In Walnut Cove these wooden wagons are still the main source of transportation. [Clark worked the night shift and was very tired while writing this.  The drowsiness has a rather sarcastic effect on his sense of humor.]

Here are Robb and I devouring some delicious fried chicken.  Look at that spread of delicious foods that was laid before us.  My personal favorite was the BBQ spare ribs.  [Mine was the fried chicken and coleslaw.]

Ames and Elizabeth smiling in front of that patriotic Santa Claus in the background. [I'm pretty sure that is Uncle Sam, not Santa.  Santa was the giant doll standing in the roof rafters.]

Here are Elizabeth and Amy enjoying popsicles at our favorite Durham point of interest.  Elizabeth enjoyed a Mexican Chocolate, while Amy was having a love affair with her Boysenberry Thyme [Clark was just jealous that mine was better].  I (not pictured) was enjoying my Spicy Thai Peanut pop.

Here is Elizabeth at a crowd-favorite view of the Duke Gardens.  Many people have exchanged wedding vows at that very spot.
The girls in front of Duke Chapel.  Here Amy is trying her patented, "10 second timer while holding the camera away to avoid bothering people to take a picture" move.  [Whatever it takes to document the moment.]

We spent a few hours at Wrightsville beach near Wilmington, NC.  The wind was fierce and it blew lots of sand everywhere [it hurt], but the weather was great and the beach wasn't crowded at all.  We had lots of fun playing in the waves and showing off our swimsuit bodies [Amen]

Looking out over the ocean in downtown Wilmington.  On Water Street we were treated to a free concert by a Talking Heads cover band, and we helped ourselves to some delicious ice cream.  Overall, it was a terrific trip with all sorts of fun and exciting adventures.  Thanks a ton to Elizabeth for coming out to visit us and coming to know North Carolina like we know it. [Come back soon!]
